  • Some of these songs are beautiful, but don't call 'em pretty. If you believe life is a straight line, this record might not be for you. You're holding in your hands a manifesto on trust and grit. Grit born of Kate surviving the stories enshrined in these songs, and trust in bandmates to help her realize them. We found that trust in our friend Bryan's little rehearsal room, working through material after the lockdown months. It turned into a deep belief in our ability to channel the soul of the lyrics into this collection of music together as a group. It was a process of discovery and an unfolding that led us on the studio floor, cutting the basics of these songs entirely live in the same room. The band was willing to trust, and we let 'em fly - vocals and all.

  • Just a girl, a guitar, and a lifetime of stories put into song. Kate Redgate's music is a mixture of rock and roll, folk, roots-rock and country. The result of a high school dropout using time well spent absorbing her early influences: the ones she heard as a kid on the loudspeakers at the Illinois Boots and Saddle Club, the ones she saved money and hitched rides to buy recordings of at the local record store, and the ones she waited to hear on the radio, cassette recorder button ready, so she could rewind and playback songs over and over learning chords and writing down lyrics. The Stones and the Grateful Dead, X and the Replacements, Pretenders and Joni Mitchell, Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris… You get the drift.

  • Kate Redgate performs both solo and full band shows. Typical band performances include a second guitar, bass, keys, and drums.
